For the production of climate-neutral lithium, a first pilot plant is currently being put into operation in the German Upper Rhine Valley.
Renewable geothermal energy is used to extract lithium without using fossil fuels. Several shell and tube heat exchangers are required for the geothermal process, and this is where HERING AG comes into play. We accompanied the project from the first feasibility studies to the realization of the pilot plant and designed and manufactured several shell and tube heat exchangers in the form of coolers, heaters and evaporators at the beginning of the year. A special feature of this project was that a super duplex stainless steel had to be used due to highly corrosive media.
